“Essence of Burgundy & Provence”

Pre-Cruise Tour Dijon to Paris: August 2-6, 2026

Saone & Rhone River Cruise: August 6-13, 2026

Post-Cruise Tour Aix-en-Provence: August 13-16, 2026

Ladies & Gentlemen,

The Rhone River Valley and Provence are our favorite regions of France. So many beautiful wines come from this special part of southeast France, and arguably the world’s the finest haut cuisine. So, in the summer of 2026 we are going back and venturing further into the legendary vineyards of Burgundy and the Rhone River Valley.

We invite you to join us.

This is a deluxe voyage down the Rhone River Valley from Dijon in Burgundy, down the Rhone Valley, into Provence and concluding in Arles. Our ship is the deluxe river vessel AmaCello, which carries a maximum 144 passengers. On board we will conduct two tastings, comparing and contrasting my New World wines of California’s Central Coast vs. those of France’s Burgundy and Rhone regions. There will also be a gourmet Chaine-des-Rotisseurs paired dinner with selected wines from Peachy Canyon.

This is a great experience and getaway; ideal for those who enjoy history, fine wine and marvelous French cuisine.  Winemaking in France started under the Romans, who built the first substantial cities and infrastructure here, which can be seen nearly everywhere on this itinerary.  The Romans used the Rhone River as a nautical highway to conquer ancient Gaul, their name for France.

In the north Rhone Valley region are the lovely cities of Vienne and Lyon, the latter like a laid-back Paris. Lyon is recognized as the gastronomic center of France, a high accolade indeed in a country which prides itself on delivering the world’s best dining. The Northern Rhone’s Syrah vintages are the stuff of legend, along with world class white wine production of Marsanne, Roussanne and Viognier varietals.

The southern Rhone Valley features the colorful Provence countryside featured in so many Van Gogh masterpieces. The vintners of the Provence region in the southern Rhone Valley produce the great Chateau-Neuf-du-Pape blends and fine light red wines from Grenache, Mourvedre and Carignan grapes.

This program offers two separate optional tour programs:

1) PARIS TO DIJON

Spend two nights in always interesting Paris and two nights in Dijon, the capital of Burgundy. Explore the Montmartre district on a guided Jazz Tour, about American Jazz greats like Louis Armstrong and Josephine Baker, who lived here in the roaring 20’s. Dijon is our embarkation port, an elegant French city and home to the medieval Dukes of Burgundy. We’ll see and experience the highlights of Dijon, staying at the beautiful Grand Hotel La Cloche. This tour is a great way to adjust to the time zone change and ease into what will be a busy program.

2) THE CAMARGUE & AIX-EN-PROVENCE

The optional post-cruise 3-night stay and regional tour visits Aix-en-Provence, May 7-10, 2026. “Aix” is one of the great small towns in Provence, a favorite place of author Ernest Hemingway and hometown of Impressionist artist Paul Cezanne. Fly home from nearby Marseille Airport.

France in the spring is lovely. All meals, wine and sightseeing tours are included aboard AmaCello.  We have an EXCLUSIVE discount of $1,000 per cabin ($500 per person) that will expire March 31st.  A $500 p/p deposit will hold your cabin.
